The National Portrait Gallery is an art gallery in London, England, housing a collection of portraits of historically important and famous British people. It was the first portrait gallery in the world when it opened in 1856. The gallery moved in 1896 to its current site at St Martin's Place, off Trafalgar Square, and adjoining the National Gallery.

You will spend time looking at portraits, exploring different elements such as technique, composition and line. Drawing from the portraits encourages you to look slowly and carefully at the works, giving you an artist’s perspective. There is a short introduction at 18.30 but feel free to drop in whenever you like. You can stay for 10 minutes or 2 hours. The class is suitable for both beginners and more confident artists. All materials are provided.
